Sylvie Mangaud

For each of her works, Sylvie Mangaud seeks her inspiration in movements, postures and emotions. She then interprets them by playing on disproportions while preserving the perfect accuracy of the gesture. She sculpts the curves, animates the voids to create geometric forms.

Captured in the most touching postures, as if recreated by the artist's fingertips, Sylvie Mangaud's women dream, stretch, or offer themselves in a state of grace combining the length of lines with the softness of curves. Ankles, wrists, bare necks, the attachments seek each other out and meet, shivering under the bronze; the backs give themselves; the shoulders speak; the legs lengthen or bend according to the waves of emotion. The faces remain smooth, letting the bodies speak. All are only one and each one is unique.

The lightness to which every being aspires takes flesh in this art. A fluid ballet of legs stretched to infinity, of immense arms that embrace, seize, welcome... Far, very far, from the tired bodies and the too full heads.

Women giraffes with long necks, twig women with opulent fruits, haughty and unreal women, with the race camber, populate this garden of Eden where only some very pure men have the right to penetrate. Some are on the point of jumping, others of diving, some run towards love, others are satisfied to walk with a simplicity and a verticality which borders on the Absolute.
