Born in 1968, Ramon Enrich is a Spanish painter and sculptor who lives and works in Igualada, Spain.
After studying Fine Arts and History, Ramon Enrich's work entered the art scene when he began to exhibit his work in galleries in Barcelona.
During his training, he traveled to the United States in the late 1980s, visiting his reference painters. After acquiring a grant, he contacted the Donald Judd Foundation in Texas and then paid several visits to David Hockney in Los Angeles and to Ed Ruscha. These collaborations continue to this day, since during his career Ramon Enrich has collaborated with other artists, designers, architects, and writers: David Hockney, David Carson, Philippe Apeloig, Julian Schnabel, Anatxu Zabalbeascoa, Narcís Comadira, Quim Monzó and Jean Nouvel.
Since his beginnings, his paintings propose a dialogue between architecture and landscape, always with a very particular and enigmatic atmosphere full of references to the Mediterranean culture, and a spatial conception where the color and the design of spaces have neither time nor place.
A painter with a very personal language based on simplicity and a new and intelligent look at architecture, Ramon Enrich treats the world as a great architectural choreography where metaphysical language and typography are the protagonists. His work covers many expressive registers, figurative or abstract, but always with a clearly recognizable syntax. His compositions tend towards an ironic mixture between romanticism and essential pragmatism.
Ramon Enrich's best-known work always deals with architectural themes with a scenographic and theatrical look charged with memory. In his constructive volumes, the use of color and the enigmatic treatment of space acquire great importance.
However, his expressive language gradually becomes more refined and smaller. Ramon Enrich paints large formats where the density of the color and the point of view propose a path more psychological than formal. He also engages in research through large canvases with typographic themes treated like sculptures.
His paintings are in numerous international collections and the artist has a regular schedule of exhibitions in his galleries around the world. He is a renowned cultural activist in Catalonia and is currently working on the conversion of an industrial area into a creative zone for the city of Igualada.
