Diana Orving's creative process involves a dynamic exchange between different techniques, materials and formats, encompassing textile sculptures, paintings and costumes. Exploring the symbiotic relationship between the tactile and the visual, as well as the interaction between body and space, Orving's work lies at the intersection of emotion and thought.
Guided by her hands, Orving approaches form as if the sculptures were organic beings with a will and temperament of their own. The fluid seams of her pieces resemble elastic, living lines, similar to the veins of blood or the branches of a tree. Through her art, Orving seeks to express and understand mental and physical states of mind, relationships and processes through form and movement. The lightness of textiles allows him to work on a large scale, which often gives the impression of being overwhelmed by volume. In this state of loss of control, something exhilarating emerges - an element of uncertainty and unpredictability that she finds seductive. Using a choreographic approach, Orving uses her sculptures to depict relationships, conflicts, fears and desires. Her work captures a deep sense of interconnectedness, emphasising that one is not an isolated entity, but rather a small part of a larger system.
