Née à Londres en 1991, Abigail Booth a étudié les beaux-arts à la Byam Shaw School of Art, au San Francisco Art Institute et au Chelsea College of Art, où elle obtient en 2013 un diplôme en tant que peintre et sculpteur.
Fin 2014, elle lance Forest + Found, un studio de création et de recherche sur les matériaux en collaboration avec le sculpteur Max Bainbridge qui travaille le bois. Tous les deux expérimentent des techniques anciennes et contemporaines pour faire dialoguer les oeuvres, les matériaux. Leurs approches sont différentes mais ils témoignent ensemble de la beauté de la nature dans sa simplicité.
Abigail est sensible aux éléments de la nature qui viennent composer un paysage, un espace, dans leur formes, leur simplicité. D’un geste naturel, elle donne un rythme à ces éléments, composant ses oeuvres en mêlant différents matériaux, textures, histoires, toujours entre l’imaginaire et le réel.
Rien ne se perd. Elle récupère des tissus, réalise ses propres teintures à partir de copeaux de bois bruts récupérés dans l’atelier, puis coud, assemble les éléments pour créer un tout monumental devant lequel on aurait presque envie de s’agenouiller, comme pour se prosterner devant la nature.
